About the Book

There are a lot of books about faith. Finding it. Losing it.

And about real life. When things don’t turn out the way you thought they would. When relationships change. When

what you believed doesn’t hold like it used to.

I didn’t think that would be my story.

What used to hold… didn’t anymore.

This is the story of a teenage boy who didn’t try to fix me.

He just lived what he believed.

And somehow, that led me back to my faith.

I didn’t come back because I figured it out.

I came back to faith because of who I met.

I had spent years speaking, teaching, and writing, helping others find their footing.

But none of that prepared me for losing my own faith… or for how it would come back.

About Cynthia

Cynthia Trosclair lives in Rockwall, Texas and is the author of The Boy Who Saved Me, a true story about losing faith and

finding it again in an unexpected way.

For 22 years, she was a public speaker in ministry settings, known for her storytelling and humor. She spoke often about

marriage and family, connecting with people in a way that felt honest and real.

She spent those years helping others make sense of their relationships.

Until she lost her own.

Now, she shares the story she never expected to live—and the way it changed her.

When she’s not writing or speaking, she plays pickleball, lifts weights, and occasionally tags along on elk hunts for moral

support only.

you had been teaching?

• You say this isn’t a typical “finding your faith again” story. What makes it different?

• Was there a moment you realized something had shifted in your faith?

• Why do you think some people never come back to their faith after going through loss or disappointment?

• You didn’t “figure it out”—you met someone. Why does that matter?

• What was it about Jaren that got through to you when other things didn’t?

• Do you think people are looking in the wrong places when they’re trying to rebuild their faith?

• If someone feels like what used to work for them doesn’t anymore, where do they even start?

• You’ve lived on both sides—teaching and then experiencing. What changed the most for you?

ADDITIONAL INTERVIEW QUESTIONS (JAREN, CANCER, AND YOUR CONNECTION)

• Who was Jaren before anyone ever knew about the cancer?

• What was it like watching a teenager face brain cancer with that kind of faith?

• Was there a moment with Jaren that you still can’t shake?

• You had your own brain tumors—how did that change the way you saw what Jaren was going through?

• Did your shared experience with brain-related illness connect you in a way others couldn’t see?

• What did Jaren understand about life and faith that most adults don’t?

• When the doctors said there was nothing more they could do, how did Jaren respond?

• What did you expect to feel around someone who was dying—and what actually surprised you?

• Did Jaren ever know the impact he was having on you?

• What did you see in him that you weren’t seeing in yourself at the time?

• How did being around him challenge what you thought you believed?

• What did his suffering do to your understanding of God?

• Was there ever a moment where his situation made your own questions about faith harder instead of easier?

• What stayed with you after he was gone?
